Dry van is the most competitive equipment class in trucking. There are more empty trailers than any other type, and that means rates get pushed down every day by carriers who take whatever pays the truck payment. To beat the average, you need rate discipline, not volume. The two numbers that matter most in van are rate per mile and deadhead. A load that pays $2.20 a mile looks fine until you drive 150 miles empty to pick it up. We run the deadhead math on every offer, and we show it to you before you accept. Every load we evaluate gets scored on per-mile profit, not gross payout. A 400 mile run at $2.00 a mile with an empty pickup and no return freight scores worse than a 200 mile run at $1.90 a mile that keeps you loaded and near home. The score is yours to see, and it is how we decide what to book. Van freight is a volume game. We would rather book fewer, smarter loads than fill your week with break-even miles. Our fee is flat and open book: $325 per truck per week or 4.5 percent of linehaul, and you see the broker rate and our fee on the same screen.
